European Association of Event Centres (EVVC)

The EVVC represents about 700 event centres of all kinds and sizes in Germany and Europe.
Event organisers and supply companies supplement the association’s broad range, thus making the EVVC the most versatile communications network within the sector.

Eurogress Aachen now “Green Globe” certified

The Eurogress Aachen is, next to Düsseldorf, the second Conference Centre in North Rhine-Westphalia with a “Green Globe” certification. Currently, nine houses in the EVVC have received the “Green Globe” commendation. “Therefore, Aachen takes over a pioneering position”, said Councilman Dr. Pauly, committee chairman at the Eurogress Aachen.

The Green Globe certification is a globally recognized certificate in the event industry, which examines the environmental, as well as the economic and social sustainability of the respective establishments. The Eurogress fulfilled all these criteria immediately and therefore now bears the international seal of approval. This alone is not sufficient for Kristina Wulf (Manager at Eurogress Aachen). “The sustainable approach of a venue is always an ongoing process and we want to promote further development in this direction. For this reason we have set up an in-house “environmental” workgroup. At the moment we are good but we want to be even better.”

Worldwide demand for “green” meetings, incentives, conventions and events is on the rise. “Sustainability and “green” issues are increasingly becoming important criteria during the selection of the venues,” says Dr. Pauly. “Therefore, the Green Globe also has, next to the responsible approach to the environment, economic aspects.”
