European Association of Event Centres (EVVC)

The EVVC represents about 700 event centres of all kinds and sizes in Germany and Europe.
Event organisers and supply companies supplement the association’s broad range, thus making the EVVC the most versatile communications network within the sector.

Stadthalle Fürth becomes the first conference and event hall in Bavaria to receive EVVC Green Globe Certification: sustainability as a business exercise

With this commitment to environmentally and socially responsible business, the Stadthalle Fürth takes on a leading role in terms of sustainability among the events houses throughout Bavaria. Throughout Germany 25 other meeting houses are currently allowed to promote the seal of green meetings.

With this certification, a development process was initiated in the Stadthalle Fürth that will continue to bring gradual improvements in terms of sustainable action. Last but not least, the certificate must be renewed every two years.

“The issue of sustainability and the environment will become even more important in the future”, said managing director Robert Steinkugler. “I am convinced that successful work in the event industry is also connected to sustainability and environmental thinking. With this certification, we have undergone a learning process at the Stadthalle that is still far from complete. It is important to establish sustainable thinking and action among our employees and to consolidate and to sensitize customers and business partners for this process as well as to make procedures transparent”.

This certificate is a powerful argument for attractive “green” events in the Stadthalle and in the cloverleaf city. For customers and visitors, the commitment is manifested in various fields. Much attention is paid to the well-being of people with disabilities at the Stadthalle Fürth and a lot is done for it. Even house and topical tours of the facilities are offered to people with disabilities, a barrier-free website completes the existing range of services for people with disabilities. The restaurant business gets its goods mainly from the metropolitan region of Nuremberg and focuses on offering its guests regional and seasonal dishes. Through various investments in the house and its technology, considerable savings could be achieved in the area of energy during the past few years. It may not be immediately to customers and visitors, but the green process already starts with many everyday details: Examples include the exclusive include use of biodegradable cleaning agents, a consistent waste separation using recycling facilities, the use of eco-paper as well as purchasing guidelines and recommendations for employees.

Cooperation with Deutsche Bahn
A co-operation between the Stadthalle and Deutsche Bahn is also new. It allows conferences and meeting participants to travel by train to Fürth using a special event ticket which is not only cheap but also CO 2 compensated. Additional new green opportunities for organizers are also being planned.
