As a member of the EVVC the Graf-Zeppelin-Haus, already took part in an environmental competition on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in 2009. The aim was to incorporate three main aspects: the economic and ecological as well as the socio-political aspect. Hall Manager and tourism director Dietmar Philipp and his team recognized years ago that one can contribute a great deal and must also contribute a certain amount in the future in terms of an economic, energy efficient and socio-political commitment toward visitors, guests and employees. Employees from the technology department created a more flexible energy program a few years ago, which proffers significant budget savings in the five-digit euro range in the energy cost area compared to previous years. For heating and cooling, the GZH has always used the natural resource water from Lake Constance.
In previous years, the house already partnered with the city to direct its attention toward a specific envi-ronmental selection of raw materials by means of clean and low-emission products and always paid attention to accredited certification for foreign products. In the socio-political field so-called in-house service and quality training courses have been on offer to GZH personnel for many areas in the last years, especially for those employees with direct customer and visitor contact. Equally, the safety of the guests and employees is taken into account with the “evacuation program” that was launched a few years ago. Here, the GZH is one of the few facilities in Southern Germany, which already offer such a security module due to high the visitor density (more than 300,000 guests and visitors in GZH).
