The music and congress hall (MuK) is now the second “Green Globe” certified meeting house in Germany. “Green Globe” is a globally recognized quality label in the tourism and event industry for a sustainable economy.
For years, sustainable business has been one of the company principles of the MuK. As a public institution the MuK team is committed to acting in a sustainable manner. For the MuK the certificate is a confirmation of quality management. It should be put into context with a series of measures that have been implemented in recent years. A year ago, for example, a detailed energy analysis was carried out, from which the conclusions were drawn step by step. This includes, among other things, a change in the climate-control technology, which allows for an improved regulation of the building. This will lead to significant energy savings in the MuK. The planning of a modern heating / cooling plant for the MuK was recently honoured as “very innovative” at the Energy Olympics of the Innovation Foundation of Schleswig-Holstein. “The plans and measures of the MuK are exemplary. They are an important step towards the ecological objectives which the hanseatic city has set itself. With this, they can be a role model for other municipal companies,” said Annette Borns, Cultural Minister of the hanseatic city of Lübeck.
In addition, the MuK operates in a market in the event and convention field where the issue of sustainability is currently gaining importance tremendously. “We are developing new services for operators, such as the purchase of CO2-neutral electricity, or the exclusive use of regional products. We want to make a difference, together with our customers,” says Ilona Jarabek, director of the MuK.
