In May 2011, specialist professors at German universities with independent event-study courses got together and formed a network: the “quality circles Event Studies”. The initiative aims to define and ensure adequate standards of academic event studies, but also in event apprenticeships. The interconnectedness and constant exchange with relevant associations and enterprises are aimed at giving impulses, background information, reflections and solutions by and for the industry.
Founders of the quality circle include Astrid Mühlböck from the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn, Cornelia Zanger from the Technical University of Chemnitz, Hermann-Josef Kiel from the Hochschule Heilbronn, Stefan Luppold from the Karlshochschule, Hans Rück from the University of Applied Sciences Worms, Helmut Schwägermann from the University of applied sciences Osnabrück and Ulrich Wünsch from the hdpk – Hochschule der populären Künste Berlin. Together, they want to bring the event industry another step forward. “The goal is to customize the training to fit the future profiles in the event area. Due to the professionalization of the industry increasingly clear job descriptions are required in the event area”, Cornelia Zanger Professor at the TU Chemnitz emphasized.
