The Congress Park Hanau (CPH) will in future give out tap water filtered by the Stadtwerke Hanau (SWH) instead of mineral water to its guests. This was announced by Mayor Claus Kaminsky on the annual World Water Day on 22nd March. “We are following a new approach to have a sustainable mutual benefit for the city of Hanau” he says, praising the agreed cooperation between two city-owned companies, which may become a role model for generic projects.

In the presence of CPH-manager Michael Schweitzer and the two SWH managers Dr. Clemens Boecker, Hans-Rüdiger Wiedem Kaminsky again underlined how important the Hanau drinking water is for the people of the city: With a 99 percent share of groundwater, always hygienic, chemically and micro-biologically monitored by the health department, it is a “real quality product”. Thanks to the strict drinking-water regulations tap water is the “best controlled foodstuff and comes off better than any factory-produced mineral water.”
Therefore, it seemed obvious to switch from mineral water to tap water in the CPH. Thus, the CPH scores for its constant efforts to achieve sustainable development. As a result, the house became the first Green Globe-certified convention centre in the greater Frankfurt area in 2010. This tourism and events industry seal of approval rewards sustainability as part of strategic management.
 
In order to serve the Hanau tap water in style, the CPH has acquired carafes and glasses. As such it also fulfils its aspiration to be a house renowned for good design. In addition, coasters, which establish the quality of Hanau tap water and its mineral content, have been developed for the glasses. The CPH will in future already inform its guests at the entrance about the switch to tap water.

For event organizers who can not do without mineral water there is still the possibility to order supplies via the catering services and the restaurant in the CPH.
