Since 1st January 2010 Lars Wöhler is the new man at the head of the Science and Congress Centre darmstadtium. Looking back on the previous fiscal year, Wöhler was able to announce a sales increase of ten percent compared to the previous year. A total of 140,000 visitors visited some 270 events in 2010, generating a sales volume of 3.4 million €.
Wöhler’s objectives: optimize costs, freeze subsidy requirements
The new CEO wants to further improve the economic situation of one of the most modern and most innovative event venues in the metropolitan Rhine-Main-Neckar region. “We want to raise the turnover level to more than 3.5 million € a year in the medium term. At the same time, we want to limit our need for support for the operative business, if possible, to 1.2 million Euros”. Wöhler wants to achieve these objectives by implementing additional customer loyalty incentives, establishing a key account management and intensifying corporate and institutional partnerships in the region. Here, Wöhler places particular importance on the existing close links with one of the most respected scientific universities in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Technical University of Darmstadt. But the ties with the other two universities in Darmstadt will also be further expanded.
In addition, the 37-year-old will step up sustainability awareness. “We want to optimize the necessary usage of raw materials and thus make a greater contribution to our social responsibility”, said Wöhler. At the same time, the darmstadtium will continue to serve as a reliable company that trains apprentices and a responsible employer.
The “Green Globe” certified house is an ideal place for those who want to live and adopt ecological, economic, and social responsibility. “Our understanding of sustainability and our unique IT infrastructure will continue to be essential trademarks”, said the new CEO.
