The operation of the Freilichtbühne Zwickau can continue in the coming years. The Higher Administrative Court (OVG) rejected an express request dated 02.12.2011 from a local resident, which aimed at the suspension of operations at the event company, in the second instance. Previously, the administrative court in Chemnitz had also already decided in favour of Kultour Z. The outdoor stage will thus remain what it has been since 1957 - a venue that can and will continue to be operated in accordance with its intended purpose and its cherished traditions.

Nearly 14,000 people have been committed themselves and collected signatures for the Zwickauer Open-air stage in recent months. Since 1957, it has enthused young and old with its unique atmosphere on warm summer evenings providing theatre performances, concerts, children's fetes, show programs, soccer public viewings or cinema screenings.

According to the detailed decision dated 02.12.2011, the Saxon Higher Administrative Court sees no justification against the legality of the operating company as well as against the underlying construction permit. TheSenate handing down judgement notes in its decision that the noise levels generated by the operating company are not harmful to the neighbours and have to be accepted. As part of its overall consideration, the Higher Administrative Court considered especially in favour of Kultour Z. that the neighbour moved to the area with full regard of the operating company, which had already existed for decades. Moreover, the noise levels emanating from the open air stage will in future be quieter than in the past, thanks to noise control measures that have been implemented in the meantime and the number of events has been limiting to 10 events annually.
