Hannover Congress Centrum: Concept for consolidation completed during tough times - 2 million Euro profit improvement in 3 years

In 2009, the HCC could again improve its overall operational profit, compared to the previous year by nearly 400,000 Euros. Thus, it was possible to bring the consolidation process, which had begun in 2003, to its arranged conclusion in 2009, even though the general conditions were more difficult due to the economic crisis.
“In the years from 2007 to 2009 alone it was possible to improve performance in the order of 2 million Euros,” said HCC Director Joachim König.
For the future continued positive development a detailed cooperation concept with the Deutsche Messe AG in the areas of purchasing, sales and marketing was also agreed in 2009.

“With this joining of forces it will be possible to realise additional potential and business performance in the event area in the next few years. At the same time, the fair and congress venue Hannover will also benefit from this cooperation in the medium term,” said Director Joachim König.

At present, particular attention is being paid to the not too distant year 2014, when the HCC will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To this end, initial preparations have already begun in 2009 and will continue in the coming years. These include extensive construction and usage documentation as well as initial preliminary planning of events and possible refurbishment and repair projects. In this regard, a first major step will be the planned construction of a parking deck with 900 parking spaces, immediately next to the Eilenriedehalle, to significantly improve the convenience for arriving HCC visitors, starting in 2011.
