The year 2011 was a very successful year for KölnKongress with a high usage rate in all venues. “We were able to emulate the success of our good financial result of 2010 and are extremely happy with the Congress year 2011”, said KölnKongress managing director Bernhard Conin. The number of events at KölnKongress has fallen slightly, due in large part to a lapse of several supporting events which did not take place due to the rotating exhibition program. At the same time, the total utilization of the KölnKongress areas has increased compared to last year. The number of visitors has remained virtually the same. With the start of the general refurbishment of the Flora in Cologne in September 2011 its re-opening date also moves a little closer.
KölnKongress was able to increase its turnover to an estimated 12.5 million Euros by 11 percent compared to the previous year (2010: 11.26 million). This makes it the highest turnover since the founding of KölnKongress.
In 2011, 1,943 events were conducted in the premises of KölnKongress. Of these, 1,057 were congresses, conferences, social and cultural events, exchanges, exhibitions and 886 supporting events to the fairs. The events were attended by 1,021,000 guests.
The usage rate of KölnKongress venues amounts to 361 days during 2011 and has increased during the last few years (2010: 352 days, 2009: 354 days).
