Public event centres and municipal centres, especially those dating from the 60s, such as the Stadthalle Marburg are designed to be multifunctional.
While exploring spatial models, a visit to the Darmstadt “Centralstation”, which was initiated by the Kulturladen KFZ in 2008, showed the possibility of communicative multi-functionality - as a reciprocal stimulation of the functions of culture, gastronomy, sociability, and relaxation.
This model of communicative multi-functionality is the aim for the expansion of the Stadthalle. It integrates the KFZ and the Marburg Tourismus und Marketing GmbH.
It allows for the co-existence of events and assigns a central communication role to the gastronomy turning it into an experience. This way all stakeholders have a benefit. This also affects the productive coexistence of different organizational cultures from the event service Stadthalle as a municipally operated premises to the socio-cultural integration of voluntary work in the event area operated independently by the KFZ.
