Who would have thought? There is a small ecosystem in the middle of Berlin's inner city. And not only that, the Max-Schmeling-Halle links the formerly separate parts of Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg in the east and Wedding in the west as a “green bridge”. In recent years, the Velomax Berlin Hallenbetriebs GmbH has continually promoted the issues of sustainability and environmental protection. The results of the green commitment can now be found as a new menu item on the website of the Max-Schmeling-Halle at http://www.max-schmeling-halle.de/de/green/
“Avoiding. Decreasing. Compensating.” These are the guiding principles of all employees of the Max-Schmeling-Halle during their everyday work. How exactly they go about protecting the environment is now also explained on the expanded website under the menu item “Green Entertainment”. “We have used the last few years to set up our house for the requirements of the future”, says Annette Weller, director of the Berlin Velomax Hallenbetriebs GmbH. The green idea becomes particularly evident during the implementation of events, so-called Green Events: “Among other things, we work almost exclusively with regional service providers and suppliers to reduce the CO2 emissions for transport by using short distances”.
As a Green Globe certified company the Velomax Berlin Hallenbetriebs GmbH has established the aspects of ecological, sociological and economic sustainability in its internal systems and checks them on an ongoing basis.
