The former exhibition halls 6-8, that were known as “Rheinparkhallen Cologne” for some time and have been in use for numerous conventions, conferences, company presentations, banquets and smaller trade shows and exhibitions as well as events of all kinds will be renamed to “Staatenhaus am Rheinpark” to give the location a clearer profile as an independent event location.
After the opening ceremony of the Cologne trade fair halls in May 1924 planning director Adolf Abel was already commissioned to redesign and expand the location in the autumn of 1926, to create more space for the big event “PRESSA 1928”, to serve as a (re-)presentation house for the participating states. One the one hand the existing buildings were to be extended, on the other hand special emphasis was placed on the design of the Rheinpark. The name “State House” was given to the building during the “PRESSA 1928”.
