The event center Westfalenhallen GmbH looks back on a very successful concert season. “2009 was the best year in the recent past regarding the quality of our program,” says Jochen Meschke, CEO of the company.
Overall, the event center Westfalenhallen again recorded more than 200 events and well over 700,000 visitors in 2009. Meschke: “This result deserves so much respect because it was achieved only through classic events and tours. There were no special events such as the soccer public viewing or the Love Parade 2008.” For the first time there were also no cycling events (six-day race, Grand Christmas prize) in 2009.
Jochen Meschke: “In 2009 the Westfalenhallen have demonstrated that we are a top destination for German and international organizers. The utilization of our hall is excellent, despite the intense competitive situation.”
Hardly a year goes by without modernization projects in the Westfalenhallen. 2009 is no exception. In the past year we significantly upgraded the backstage area for artists and athletes in Hall 1. A new wall covering was installed, feeder lines disappeared behind covers and we now have friendly welcoming signs. “Even in the tough entertainment business soft factors' play an important role” says Jochen Meschke. “Artists and organizers should feel comfortable when they are here.” Furthermore, the service for business customers has been further improved. Another Event Lounge in Hall 1 was received a balcony from which VIP visitors can view the event from up close but nevertheless exclusively.
