Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound continue to expand their global leadership in live music and entertainment

With 2,388 exhibitors from 55 countries (2011: 2,380 exhibitors, 54 countries) and approximately 110,000 visitors from 120 countries (2011: 109,002 visitors, 124 countries), the two trade fairs in Frankfurt am Main were able to stabilize the high results of the previous year. “Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound have further strengthened their position as the leading international trade fairs for live music and live entertainment this year. Visitors as well as exhibitors rated the two shows to be of very high quality and were also in high spirits in terms of order volumes”, said Detlef Braun, managing director of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, on the final day.

The Prolight + Sound’s concept of expanding the offer to Congress and event management topics has currently succeeded. The Event Plaza reached over 200 participants due to its high-quality conference program.

In total over 41,000 visitors came from abroad - mainly from the Netherlands, France, Italy, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and Russia.

The visitors of the Prolight + Sound currently evaluate the situation in the industry more positively than their counterparts in the music instrument industry. Here, a remarkable number (90 percent) look optimistically to the near future while the foreign industry peers are not quite as unanimous in this positive attitude (81 percent of visitors). For the exhibitors, the response of the visitors at the stands was quite remarkable – all in all more exhibitors than last year found the order level and trade goals to be good: 90 percent of all exhibitors shared this view.

The German music instrument and entertainment industry looks positively to the economic industry year. In 2011, it realized a turnover of 3.5 billion Euros in the field of professional lighting, sound and event technology as well as about 2.7 billion Euros for “active music-making” - in other words for musical instruments, Sheet music, accessories and services in trade and education.
