Marktredwitz looking for a concept for its industrial monument
The two-story industrial building Glasschleif with an inner surface of 3,420 square meters is to be reclassi-fied as an event hall and single gymnasium, according to media reports.The approximately three-hectare terrain is also to be reshaped. Therefore, the city is now looking for an architect.

From 2014: Congress House in the European quarter
The Messe Frankfurt is building a new convention centre for 10 million Euros in the European quarter until autumn 2013. It will go into operation in early 2014.

Expert report on the future of the Stadthalle Gütersloh
According to media reports, the city of Gütersloh is commissioning a report to analyse the market environment and the possible investments for various scenarios – from refurbishment to a new construction – for the Stadthalle. In 2012 alone, investments for fire protection and electrics in the amount of 435,000 Euros are necessary.

Ratiopharm Arena Ulm opened
After 19 months of construction the Ratiopharm Arena Ulm was opened in early December 2011. The 27.5 million-euro construction provides an activity area of 2,000 square meters and can accommodate 9,000 visitors. The two common owners of the building are the two adjacent cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm. The arena is operated by the Max Bögl Group, which was also responsible for the construction.

2.5 million Euros for the planning of the new Rhein-Main-Hallen
As media reports, the city of Wiesbaden has granted 2.5 million Euros to promote location-independent planning for the new Rhein-Main-Hallen. The sites being discussed are the untere Wilhelmstrasse or the current site.

Deutschlandhalle Berlin is demolished
In Early December the roof of the hall, dating from 1935 and opened by the Nazis as the largest multi-purpose hall, was blasted off for 8,000 Euros, thus beginning the demolition work. By the end of 2013, two structures with a combined area of 23,500 square meters area will be constructed in the same place. One of them will be the interim venue for the ICC, which will subsequently be redeveloped. The second building will be used immediately after the completion by the Berlin trade fair company. Both buildings, which have been budgeted at 65 million Euros construction costs, will be connected by a central foyer, according to media reports.

Leipzig convention hall partly reopened
The first phase of construction for the rehabilitation of the conference hall, which has been closed for 23 years, has been completed and the first three historic rooms can be used again. By 2015, all eight halls, in-cluding the festive Jugendstil hall with 1,170 seats in the stalls, are to be refurbished in two further con-struction phases and for a total investment volume of 30 million Euros.


Potsdam desperately seeking operator for cultural district Schiffbauergasse
As media reports, the cultural district, which includes the event venue Schinkelhalle, was rehabilitated for 100 million Euros until 2006. Since then, the search is going on to find an operator for the area who will be responsible for central building management, the establishment of central brand marketing, site marketing as well as the rental business and own events.

Bayreuth city council decides convention centre
According to media reports, a conference centre with a large hall for up to 700 persons and a 4-star plus hotel with 100 to 120 rooms will be built in Bayreuth until 2015. A cost of 25 million Euros is expected, with the city’s share amounting to four million Euros. The rest will be covered by private operators.



Stadiums

Conversion and extension of the Erfurt stadium
Initial plans for a new construction of the Steigerwald stadium have identified construction costs in the amount of 27.5 million Euros. The eastern stand would be extended; the northern and southern stands could be moved closer to the goals with the help of air cush-ion technology.
The assessors expect a significant proportion of funding, if more than half the visitors are tourists, according to media reports.

Leipzig Icefighters to build their own arena

By the end of 2012 a new ice arena with seating for 3,000 spectators is to be built on the old Messe Leipzig site. The investment costs are estimated at four to five million Euros.

Bielefeld: Founding of new Arminia stadium association
Months ago, the DCS Arminia founded the Arminia Bielefeld Arena und Liegenschafts-Management GmbH&Co. KG as a subsidiary of the club. According to media reports, not only the stadium property worth 25 million Euros and two adjacent houses are being transferred, but also all loans that needed to be taken out to finance the expansion and restructuring. The aim is to convert as many loans as possible into shares in the stadium company, so as to reduce the debt dramatically.

Frankfurter Volksbank Stadion to be extended

Media reports that the old grandstand will be demolished and rebuilt until the summer of 2012. The costs of the conversion are approximately 11 million Euros.
The main grandstand with 1,800 seats will in future offer 600 seats less than before. To once again increase the capacity two additional rows were added to the eastern bleachers and the southern Stand was ex-panded with an additional standing room level. Thus, the capacity of the stadium will in future be 12,515 spectators. Optionally, this number can also be ex-panded to 15,000 seats.


Press-Shorts

A new multi-purpose hall has been constructed in Neuwerk (NW) for 4.5 million Euros.

Tawern (RP) has built a new community centre for 1.15 million Euros.

The town of Bensheim (HE) is planning to build a community centre for 8 million Euros.

A multi-purpose hall for € 2.3 million will be built in Kressbronn (BW).

Kaufungen (HE) will build a civic centre for 2.4 million Euros until 2013.

Weil der Stadt (BW) will redevelop its city hall for 2 million Euros.

Falkensee (BB) is planning to build a twin hall -a sports hall and an event hall with a common connection building.



Switzerland

The village hall in Neuendorf is to be redeveloped for 5 million Swiss Francs (4 million Euros) during the next 10 years.



Austria

Construction work completed at Messe Innsbruck
The Messe Innsbruck has invested 28.4 million Euros in the rehabilitation of existing and the construction of a new hall. The centrepiece of the new Hall 1, with rooms for up to 1,500 visitors, was completed at the end of 2011. Now, congresses for up to 4,000 partici-pants can take place on the fairgrounds. In the near future, the eastern facade of the listed Hall 2 will also be renovated, which will complete the entire project, according to media reports.
