Renovation of Augsburg Congress Hall is imminent
From May 2010 until the end of 2011 the house remains closed for reconstruction and renovation work, according to media reports. Planned work includes the insulation of the roof, new windows, restoration of fire-fighting systems, installation of a fire alarm and emergency lighting. In addition the heating and ventilation will be renewed; the floors will be partly renovated and partly renewed. From 2010 the house will reopen under the name “Kongress am Park”.
New Theatre Gütersloh opened
After two years of construction the newly developed theatre Gütersloh opened on 13th March 2010. It is considered to be one of the most economical theatres in Germany. According to media reports the construction costs amounted to 21.75 million Euros. The local companies Miele and Bertelsmann together contributed 5 million Euros. In addition, the 524 theatre chairs were sold to so-called godparents, thus achieving a further million Euros.
Construction starting on new grandstand at the Kassel Auestadion
The new grandstand will offer 2500 seats, and should be completed by autumn this year. It will cost 7.4 million Euros, according to media reports, while the complete refurbishment of the stadium including floodlights, bleachers and walkways will cost a total of 22 million Euros.
Jena receives multi-purpose hall
Following a decision by the City Council the “Werner Seelenbinder” Sports Complex in Lobeda-West will be rebuilt into a sports and multipurpose hall for 3,000 spectators. The construction decision for the 6.2 million-Euro project will be brought about by autumn, according to media reports.
New Event Hall in Berlin-Spandau
The hall, which will be integrated into the new shopping and leisure centre Siemensstadt Park in Spandau, is expected to hold up to 5,000 spectators. Recently the roofing ceremony was held for the 52-million-euro project, which is being realized on 77,000 square meters.
Costs for new development of the Dieburger Römerhalle have risen
The cost that have so far been estimated at around 5.4 million Euros are reportedly out of control and are currently plans to be a third higher. It has been said that some details of the new building, which has just been started, were not taken into account.
New development of the Essen stadium possibly on the brink of folding
According to media reports, the city of Essen can not afford the 30-million Euro new-development-project under the terms of the Düsseldorf District Government. The city has a three billion Euro debt and has already begun the dismantling of the old Georg-Melches stadium.
Leipzig Zentralstadion will become Red-Bull-Arena
The city council has already approved the name change. In addition to Salzburg and New York, Leipzig will then be the third city with a Red-Bull-Arena.

Switzerland
Extension for Casino Kursaal Interlaken AG
On 1st May 2010 the extension of a new congress hall for 1,200 people in theatre seating as well as a foyer and exhibition space of 1,000 m² with modern infrastructure will be inaugurated. The new hall is connected by a corridor with the historic Kursaal.
Conference Centre on the campus of the ETH Lausanne “unique in Europe”
According to media reports the Cantilever roof and the completely glazed facades offer a maximum of flexibility for the interior work. Due to the removable floor system and the swivel chairs the auditorium could be changed from 450 to 800 or 1300 seats. It has been said that a banquet hall with 2,300 m² of space could also be constructed. In addition to the conference centre a building for student housing, stores, restaurants, and practice rooms are planned. The project at a cost of approximately CHF 190 million (132 million Euros) will be developed as a PPP between the University and the HRS Real Estate AG.
New Event Hall in Langenthal (Bern)
Here, a former tennis court will be converted into an event location which seats 3,000 people in seat rows. The hall was already opened at the end of March.
Austria
The construction of an event hall for 300 people is being discussed in Eisenstadt (Burgenland). The planning and a concrete timetable are to be drawn up by the mid-year.
