Wacker-Arena soon to have new owners
According to media reports, the Wacker-Arena is to be sold by Wacker Chemie to the city of Burghausen for 1.5 million Euros. Thus, the city fulfils a request by third division football club SV Wacker Burghausen. In 2008, Wacker Chemie AG secured the sports club license for the third division with a grant of four million Euros.


Reisholz (NRW) falls back to city hall city

After the insolvency of the board of trustees of the Reisholz multi-purpose hall it will now fall back to the city and thus debit the municipal budget with up to 25 million Euros. New concepts for the operation of the hall are now being looked into, according to media reports.


Ulm / Neu-Ulm: Construction contract for new hall signed

Representatives of both cities signed the contract with a building contractor based in the Upper Palatinate. According to media reports, the groundbreaking ceremony will take place in May this year. The completion of the 27.6 million Euro project for up to 6,000 spectators is expected by early December 2011.


Plans for Bochum Philharmonic stalled

According to media reports, the municipality is hoping on financial aid from the state due its own short-age of funds. The construction of a separate Philharmonic for the Bochum Symphony Orchestra is regarded as an important project, especially as 12.3 million Euros have already been collected via the Bochum Symphony Foundation. The total cost for the construction is estimated at 29.3 million Euros.


Kiel discussed the construction of a new concert and congress hall

The new development would be an alternative to the much-needed refurbishment of the concert hall in the Schloss, for which, as stated in media reports, a “significant double-digit million amount” would be necessary.


Bremer KPS Group buys Berlin Tempodrom

The KPS Group operates, among other things, the Eventim Ticket Company, which has been operating the Berlin Waldbühne since 2009, according to media reports. The state of Berlin will vouch for the construction cost of the Tempodrom up to the amount of 12.7 million Euros, but the current market value allegedly only amounts to 3.17 million Euros.
 

Jena has decided on location for new multi-purpose hall

After a year of searching for a suitable location for the 6-million-Euro project, which aims to in future provide space for 3,000 spectators, a site seems to have been found. Jena's chief financial officer Francis Jauch, however, is still missing a utilisation and operating concept. In his opinion it is not sufficient to solely focus on the Science Baskets from the 2nd division Basketball League.


Bietigheim-Bissingen discussing new multi-purpose hall

A principle decision is to be reached until mid-2011 whether a new hall should be built for up to 35 million Euros. There is an existing demand, especially for ice hockey and handball, according to media reports.


Würzburg discussing expansion of the Frankenhalle

The hall is to be a substitute venue during the theatre refurbishment and will also serve as an event hall in the future. A hall for up to 1,300 seats as well as a second hall for 200 people is being considered. The financing of the 9.5-million-euro project is not yet secured.

New ice-hockey stadium for Zürich planned

ZSC Lions plans to build a new ice hockey stadium for up to 12,000 visitors in Zurich-Altstetten is meeting considerable criticism in the city. A total of 120 allotment owners would have to vacate their premises should the stadium be realized as planned, according to media reports. But there is also scepticism in the Zurich Hallenstadion, since the Lions have been tenants until now and also cater for a wide range of events.

New City Hall for Laufenburg

A new city hall is being planned for Laufenburg. According to media reports it is intended to cost 4.1 million Swiss Francs (2.66 million Euros) and can accommodate 600 people.

“Les Arts Gstaad” - bold new development project

With “Les Arts Gstaad” the city of Gstaad is developing a cultural building that is second to none, and which is built and operated solely through private funds by patrons and sponsors. According to media reports the winner of the competition has now been determined. It is planned to build a structure building made of wood which will blend into the surroundings. The concert hall that will hold up to 1,400 seats is designed to resemble a crystal cave.
The costs of the project are estimated at up to 100 million Swiss Francs (64.8 million Euros).
