Construction of Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie faces continued delay
According to media reports the opening of the spectacular building, which was planned for May 2012, could be delayed again by up to a year, as was announced in a letter to the city by the construction group Hochtief. The letter, however, is perceived as a threat to increase the pressure in the dispute over the costs. Hochtief demands a further 22.4 million Euros and criticized that there were plans missing, which ultimately caused the delays. To date, the construction costs have been estimated at 323 million Euros.


Hamburg has plans for 4,000 guest Music Hall
By the end of May this year a large supermarket chain will be leaving a large 20,000 square meters area between Hamburg's Pferdemarkt and the metro station Feldstraße. According to media reports a group of celebrities from the music industry, including concert promoter Karsten Jahnke, is interested in the area and wants to erect a medium sized event hall there. This could, they say, however only be accomplished if the site is not sold at the maximum rate method.
 

Fuldatal Bank builds community hall
The Kassel Bank is the constructor of a 3.65 million Euro new building in Fuldatal whose upper floor will house a community hall. According to media reports, the municipality of Fuldatal wants to purchase the Bürgersaal (317 square meters with modern technology for video presentations), with adjoining rooms from the bank at a price of 2.61 million Euros. The ground floor of the building will house the bank’s offices.


A new sports facility for Potsdam
A new sports complex is being created in Potsdam for a total of 33 million Euros. Among other things, a multipurpose hall for 16.4 million Euros with several training halls for ball sports, as well as judo and fencing facilities, which offers space for 2,000 spectators, is planned. The construction is expected to be completed by October 2011.


Kassel Arena investor to also become investor in Kassel Huskies
To support the financially ailing Kassel DEL ice hockey team as the main tenant of the newly-planned arena on the Kassel Salzmann-terrain, entrepreneur Dennis Rossing is now also investing into the Huskies, according to news reports. In the meantime, it is being reported that a number of sponsors for the club have also been found. The blueprint for the 40-million-Euro multi-purpose hall has existed since August 2007 but has been stalled by the financial problems of the Huskies. Now the state of Hessen also wants to support the investor through expanded possibilities for depreciation of historic monuments, according to reports.
 

Dynamo Dresden wants a new tenancy contract for better financial figures
According to media reports the Executive Board of Dynamo Dresden demands a modified lease agreement for the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. The club is already anticipating high costs due to license fees for the upcoming season and therefore can no longer bear the stadium cost, amounting to two million Euros, alone. A decision is expected in March.

Will Arminia Bielefeld sell the SchücoArena?
According to media-reports, second league club Arminia Bielefeld is plagued by debts of 15,5 mil-ion Euro. Now, selling the stadium is an option that is thought about. The stadium could be sold to a new owner, the annual tenancy could be paid to a new carrier-company.

The community centre in Erbenheim (HE) is to be redeveloped for 800,000 Euros in the first of three phases.

From April 2010, Neuenhaus (BB) will be building a new community centre with 500 seats for 5.5 million Euros.
 
Weilheim is discussing the construction of a multipurpose hall in Nöggenschwiel (BW) for 1.9 million Euros.
 
For 4.5 million Euros Eppenheim (HE) will be erecting a new civic hall for 400 people next year.
 
In Wolfgang (HE) work on a new community centre with 400 seats has started. 3.5 million Euros have been budgeted for this purpose.
 
The multipurpose hall in Kemnath (BY) is to be renovated for 3.45 million Euros from 2010.
 


Switzerland

New Conference Centre for Lausanne

The Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Lausanne (EPFL) (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) will build a new conference centre that can offer from 450 to 3000 seats in the auditorium. In addition, flats for students and an industrial zone are to be created. In 2009, the EPFL carried out around 850 conferences, according to media reports.
