The EVVC in the person of Vice-President Matthias Schultze is the German voice in the newly formed DIN Committee “Sustainable Event Management.” At the suggestion of Great Britain and Brazil, this initiative has been founded to establish an international sustainability management. Here, recommendations and guidelines should be developed for the event industry on an internationally comparable level.

The EVVC sees its task in the DIN committee to put the focus on credibility, practicality and effectiveness of these management systems. “We do not need any recommendations for action of which no one knows how and by what means they can be implemented”, says Schultze. “In this committee Germany must stand for identifying ways forward for organization houses in an ecologically sensible, economically attractive and socially acceptable but also feasible way.
Castles in the air and phrases such as “one should” and “one ought to” will not help anyone. On the contrary, we all eventually need help from outside, which will put a process in motion in our houses in the management department itself, with employees and ultimately with the customers that makes the concept of sustainability in all its dimensions comprehensible and feasible.”
