EVVC Board Appoints Cordula Riedel as Secretary General

Effective October 01, 2017, Cordula Riedel will serve as Secretary General at the EVVC, European Association of Event Centers eV. This was decided unanimously at the Board Meeting in early August, taking place in Osnabrueck.

In her role as Secretary General, the 54-year old will support the efforts of the Board (who works on an honorary basis), representing the Association, and liaise with the head office, which she will be in charge of as well.

This new position of a ‘special representative’ per § 30 BGB (Secretary General) was approved by EVVC members during the last Annual General Meeting in April 2017, taking place in Frankfurt. This is part of comprehensive amendments of the statutes, to further strengthen professionalization of the head office.

Cordula Riedel comes with extensive experience across the public and private sector. After graduating in social science, she achieved further qualifications in the fields of management, finance, and business administration, and started working in the hotel industry. Following many years in management positions at event venues and the city marketing organization in the French city of Biarritz, in 2007 she became Director of Tourism and Trade at the Chamber of Commerce in Strasbourg. In 2010, she handled two trade shows in Brussels. Over the past few years, Riedel served as Secretary General of an EVZT (European Association for Territorial Collaboration) cross-border project, coordinating 107 German and French communities in the Upper Rhine region.

“We are convinced that Cordula Riedel is the perfect person to professionally support the honorary Board, handling the many challenging topics, the EVVC is involved in,” commented EVVC President Joachim Koenig.

“Continuous optimal support of our members, efforts for further internalization of the EVVC, along with representing the event sector on the political stage, is particularly important to us. Here, Cordula Riedel will be the perfect addition to our honorary committee and the operational headquarters,” explained EVVC Vice President Ilona Jarabek.

“I very much look forward to support the EVVC Board the best possible way, and in collaboration with Linda Residovic’s new and dynamic team at the head office, shaping the future of the Association, whose efforts I have followed closely and with great interest for many years,” said Cordula Riedel.
