European Association of Event Centres (EVVC)

The EVVC represents about 700 event centres of all kinds and sizes in Germany and Europe.
Event organisers and supply companies supplement the association’s broad range, thus making the EVVC the most versatile communications network within the sector.

EVVC President Joachim König meets local government spokesmen in the German Bundestag

In order to continue political communication EVVC President Joachim König took the opportunity for discussions with local political speakers of the three largest political groups in the Bundestag in early June.

First common ways which political trends could improve the situation of local event facilities at the federal level were debated. Moreover, a further focus was on the current discussions on the energy performance of buildings and the opportunities that arise in this context for communal event facilities.

Peter Götz, municipal policy spokesman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group
As an experienced local and federal politician with a focus on urban development and construction policy Peter Götz could provide professional information on building renovations. He specifically pointed out the ongoing KfW program “Energy-Efficient Rehabilitation – municipalities”, from which funding opportunities arise for local event facilities. He stressed in this context, the example set by public authorities, which should take the lead when it comes to building renovation and set a good example. The currently initiated enhancements within the scope of the energy turnaround that promote energetic refurbishment, however, would, first and foremost, be implemented for residential buildings.

Bernd Scheelen, municipal spokesman of the SPD parliamentary group and chairman of the municipal Subcommittee
The former mayor of Krefeld and long-standing Member of Parliament appreciates the interaction with associations that have a local political reference and therefore welcomed the initiative of the EVVC for an interview. In view of the Capital Congress of the event industry that will be held in 2012 and will be organized by the EVVC and GCB in collaboration with numerous other industry associations, Scheelen suggested that it would be good to integrate local political issues in the program.

Dr. Birgit Reinemund, municipal spokeswoman of the FDP
The Mannheim City Councillor and Member of Parliament described her involvement in local politics as an interface between local and federal politics. Although the possibilities of influencing local politics on the federal level are very limited, Dr. Reinemund attempts to integrate local topics, issues and perspectives into the political debates of the Bundestag. In this sense, she also offered the EVVC to stay in available for subsequent future issues.
