On February 13, and as part of the greenmeetings and events Conference in Waiblingen, the ‘Meeting Experts Green Awards’ were presented for the third time, recognizing engagement on the topic of sustainability in the event industry. The ‘Meeting Experts Green Awards’ is organized by the GCB German Convention Bureau and the EVVC. An independent jury awards the recognitions in five categories.
The HCC Hanover Congress Centrum took home the award in the category ‘Energy Management/Resource protection’ with retrofitting its historic chandelier to a modern energy management system. Other nominees in this category included Messe and Congress Centrum Halle Muensterland, and m:con – mannheim:congress.
Winner in the category ‘Sustainable Event’ is ORF Austrian Broadcasting with the Green Event Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna. Also nominated in the category ‘Sustainable Event’ were the City Hall Reutlingen with their sustainable events, as well as the Taste of Now GmbH with their food concept “Stella and Now”.
In the category ‘Sustainable Event Venue/Location/Hotel’, the LindenGut in the Hessian Rhoen is the first certified organic guest house that took home this award. Also nominated in the category ‘Sustainable Event Venue/Location/Hotel’ were Congress Centrum Alpbach and City Hall Reutlingen.
This year’s winner in the category ‘Sustainable Human Resources Management’ is Esslingen Live – Culture and Congress GmbH. Based on their mission statement, the team created a radio play in nine acts, to bring company values to life. Other nominees in this category include mainzplus CITYMARKETING and Eurogress Aachen.
In the category ‘Sustainable Business’, the award went to fairgourmet GmbH, the exclusive catering company for Congress Center Leipzig with their very own sustainability concept, implemented in roughly 220 events with over 1.1 million visitors, and 11,000 exhibitors annually. Also nominated in this category were marbet Marion & Bettina Wuerth GmbH & Co KG, and Green Line Hotels GmbH.
